Early History
Maps dating from the 1920s and 1930s, show four properties belonging to the Melcher family, the boundaries of which would eventually form the Meadow Wood Subdivision of Lyndhurst, Ohio.

Meadow Wood Subdivision Development
Development of the Meadow Wood subdivision began in the early 1950s when the Keyes-Truehoft Company, a prolific Cleveland area builder, started developing the land. The first 50 homes, located on Dogwood Trail and Harwich Lane, were completed in 1956.
Home building in Meadow Wood tapered off into the early 1960s, until a significant building boom occurred, starting in 1962. During the period of 1962-1969, 162 homes were completed in the subdivision. The final 21 homes in the Meadow Wood subdivision were completed between 1970 and 1973.
Then in the late nineties, an additional 12 homes on Richmond Road, originally situated on the Melcher land, were built.

Meadow Wood Park and Pool
The Keyes-Truehoft Company had a very keen interest beyond the development of homes individually. They viewed an overall community, with recreation land set aside. They thought their contribution to the area, not so much as a project of homes, but one of the people as well.
In 1959, Meadowood Community Inc. was founded as a non-profit organization to promote the general welfare and maintenance of the recreation land set aside by Keyes-Truehoft. In the mid to late 1960s, the Meadow Wood Community Association, Inc. was formed, followed by deeding land to the Meadow Wood Recreation Club for a pool to be built.
In the late 1960s, an access road from Golfway Lane was formed, a pedestrian path and bridge were built from Meadow Wood Boulevard, and the park and pool as we know it today were formed.
